Bike to the Beach is a nonprofit committed to funding meaningful solutions for lives touched by autism spectrum disorders and intellectual/developmental disabilities. We do this through fundraising cycling events in 8 cities nationwide that will raise over $2 million in 2022. We are hosting our Annual New York Bike to the Beach event on Sunday, September 10th. Our riders will leave Manhattan at 5 AM and head East (to the beach!) finishing at Dockers Waterside on Dune Rd in East Quogue. We are looking for volunteers to help with finish-line support activities such as event setup (table cloths on tables, folding chairs) finisher greeting (presentation of a finisher medal, cooling towel, water), rider check-in table (handing out t-shirts and rider rewards), bike valet (parking bikes on specific racks assigned to start line shuttles), and event tear down. We would have a couple of shifts throughout the day that volunteers could select from most likely 9-1:30, 11:00-3:30, and 1:30-6:00. Willing Hearts, Helpful Hands is an innovative community program serving family caregivers in Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties by connecting them with a circle of help that includes trained volunteers who provide an array of respite services. Their well-trained volunteers provide family caregivers of older adults with the time to meet self-care needs, as well as other family obligations, at no cost. Without help in the daily tasks of caregiving, the risk to your health and well-being is as real as it is to your loved one. That is why the volunteers of Willing Hearts, Helpful Hands provide the assistance you need, on a schedule designed to allow you the time, personal space, and freedom that is essential for healthy living. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for family caregivers of older adult loved ones by engaging the broader community to provide Willing Hearts, Helpful Hands is an innovative community program serving family caregivers in Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties by connecting them with a circle of help that includes trained volunteers who provide an array of respite services.
